Johan Andersson

Johan Andersson is Head of Office and lecturer in Practical Theology. He was born in Botkyrka in the southern suburbs of Stockholm. Raised as a Swedish-Lutheran, he lived for four years in a Swedish monastery, but then entered the Syrian-Orthodox Church in 2007, where he now serves as a sub-deacon.

Johan Andersson studied in the St. Aphrem Patriarchal Seminary in Damascus Saydnada 2008-2011 where he received a Diploma from the late Patriarch H.H. Zakka Iwas I. Johan worked for five years as a youth director and secretary to the Patriarchal Vicarate of Sweden.

Johan also translated the Syrian-Orthodox Prayerbook of Shimo into Swedish in 2016, as well as other works by Syrian-Orthodox Church Fathers such as St Philoxenus of Mabbugh and Aphrahat, and was part of a committee that translated the Syrian-Orthodox liturgy into Swedish alongside Rev. Fr. Aday Marouki, Madlen Marouki and Bashar Yacob.
