The Department of Tewahedo Christian Studies
About the department
The Department of Tewahedo Christian Studies offers specialised education in the distinctive traditions of the Ethiopian and Eritrean Orthodox Churches – some of Christianity's oldest and culturally richest expressions of faith.
Through joint research projects, we work to preserve the vulnerable cultural heritage of the Ethiopian Church while simultaneously preparing students for service in these living Orthodox communities. Through introductory courses and preparatory studies for ordination, we highlight the unique theological contributions and spiritual traditions that the Tewahedo tradition brings to the global Orthodox family.
