All our courses qualify for student finance from CSN. If you want to apply for a study grant and/or student loan for your studies, you can go to tjanster.csn.se/bas.

Student finance

Participants on this course who are Swedish citizens are eligible to apply for student finance through the Swedish Central Board of Student Aid (CSN). In certain cases, participants who are not Swedish citizens but who hold a residence permit in Sweden may also be eligible to apply for student finance through CSN. Anyone applying for student finance through CSN must be prepared to account for their previous studies, as this determines their eligibility to receive student finance.

Participants who are not eligible to apply for student finance via CSN are encouraged to check whether they can apply for student finance in their home country for studies at Sankt Ignatios.

It is possible to take part in the course even without using student finance.

Follow these steps to apply for CSN:

1. Log in to CSN with BankID.
2. Under the heading ”Study” in the menu, select ”Application” and then ”Apply for study funds.” Under ”My Pages” select ”Study funds” and then ”Apply for study funds.”
3. Select ”Study in Sweden” and click ”Next” and click ”Next” again. Select ”School in Sweden” and ”make a new application for studies at a school in Sweden” and click ”Next” and ”Next” again.
4. Select ”Folkhögskola” under the heading ”Välj skolform” and press ”Välj.”
5. Select ”Södertälje” under the heading ”Ort” and click ”Hämta skolor för vald ort.”
6. Select ”Sankt Ignatios Folkhögskola” under the heading ”School” and press ”Select.”
7. Select your course name under the heading ”Education or course” and then ”Next” (NOTE: you can only select one course at a time so you must repeat all steps afterwards to add more courses).
   NOTE: Note the study pace (percentage) for your course in the ”Selected education” box. You will soon need the study pace.
8. Select the correct ”Study time” and select the correct ”Extent” (it should already be filled in, but otherwise you can find the information on the previous page).
9. Here you can check the education you have chosen and add more courses, click on ”Add new school and education.”
10. Calculate when you think you will finish your studies under ”Studies completed.”
11. Answer the remaining questions about your previous studies and click ”Next”.”
12. Choose how much and for how long you want to apply for support or a loan.

The application period for the new academic year opens on 15 March. Any further application rounds will be advertised on our website and social media channels.

How to apply for courses and educational programs at Sankt Ignatios Folkhögskola:

1. Every course and program page has an apply button.
2. Click the button, fill in the form and submit your application digitally. Done!
3. If you apply before 15 June, you will receive your notification of selection results before the summer. For later applications, the notification of selection results may be sent out in August.

When you receive the notification you do not need to accept your place, however you must let us know if you do not want it.
Well in advance of the start of the course, a welcome letter containing all necessary information from the school, as well as the dates for the start of the course and roll call, is sent out. The timing of the welcome letter may vary depending on when you applied.
Once the roll-call is complete, you are registered on the course. Following registration, a school report is sent to CSN detailing who has started their studies at the school. Once this report reaches CSN, a decision can be made by them. However, you can still apply for student finance from CSN before you are registered.

In addition to the requirements set out in the course description, applicants must be at least 18 years of age, officially registered in Sweden, and have a good command of the language of instruction.

Those who complete our folkhögskola courses receive an educational certificate or course certificate, which shows that you have completed the education. Course certificates are issued after completed studies with approved attendance. You will receive information about the requirements for obtaining an educational certificate/course certificate for your course or program from your course coordinator.

For unapproved absence, you will receive a certificate which only confirms that you were enrolled on the course during the stated period.

For courses and programs offered by the Stockholm School of Eastern Christian Studies you can apply via universityadmissions.se (in English) or antagning.se (in Swedish).

Applicants from both within the EU and from countries outside the EU are welcome to apply. You can read more about our courses and programs on their respective webpages.

For applicants from countries outside the EU, EEA and Switzerland, there is an application fee of 900 SEK.

Students at the Stockholm School of Eastern Christian Studies can apply for student finance from The Swedish National Board of Student Aid. You apply for student aid yourself via CSN's website.

Your entitlement to student aid and the amount you can receive depends on your situation, such as previous studies, citizenship, and residence permit. If you are not a Swedish citizen or do not have a residence permit in Sweden, you should contact CSN to find out if you are eligible for student aid.

When you apply, you need to be able to provide information about previous studies, as this may affect your entitlement to study grants.

You can apply for student finance before you are registered on the course. After the course starts, the school will report your registration to CSN.

Students at Stockholm School of Eastern Christian Studies do not need to pay tuition fees if they are citizens of Sweden or another EU country, or if they have been granted a residence permit in Sweden.

Applicants must have completed upper secondary education and demonstrate a good command of English. The eligibility requirements for undergraduate studies in Sweden correspond to English level 6 at upper secondary school. Students from countries other than Sweden and students who cannot prove a good command of English need to take an internationally recognised test, such as TOEFL, IELTS or equivalent. Additional requirements may apply, so please check the program or course page.

Accommodation is available for students in programmes such as the Pastoral Program, Religious Educator, and campus programs related to the Tewahedo tradition. The cost of accommodation at the seminary is reviewed every year and can vary from 3,500 to 5,000 SEK per month. These fees include the cost of breakfast. Please contact our administration for current costs.
