Overview
This course is a modular distance course for those who want to study in Amharic and are interested in Ethiopian Orthodox theology and tradition. The course contains a total of six modules: Dogmatic Theology, Church History, Bible Study, Patrology, Ecclesiology, and Liturgics. The teaching takes its starting point from the perspective of the student’s pre knowledge and if deemed suitable the teacher may divide the group into a beginners and advanced level.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Identify and articulate the meaning and basic concepts of Orthodox spirituality
- Understand how to pray, read scriptures and reflect on them
- Discuss different aspects of Orthodox spirituality
- Identify what is expected from an Orthodox Christian in their day-to-day spiritual and social life
- Instruct family members on the basics of Orthodox spiritual and practical life
Other requirements:
Attendance is mandatory, which requires the presence of at least on the level of 80% of the teaching.
