International partnerships

In September 2025, following the memorandum of understanding signed in May 2025 between Saint Ignatios College and the Institute for Eastern Christian Spirituality of the Greek Catholic Diocese of Križevci, Rev. Dr. Milutin Janjic travelled to Croatia to officially inaugurate Saint Ignatios College's operational hub at the Institute for Eastern Christian Spirituality in Zagreb.

The collaboration aims to:

• promote ecumenical dialogue and shared theological reflection between the Eastern Orthodox, Byzantine Catholic and Roman Catholic traditions,
• support the development of the study of Eastern Christian spirituality in Zagreb,
• offer training courses and programs through Sankt Ignatios College,
• encourage collaborative adult learning and academic cooperation.

Sankt Ignatios collaborates with academic institutions in Ethiopia, including in Lalibela and Mekelle. In Lalibela — one of Christianity's holiest sites and a World Heritage Site, home to the endangered medieval churches of the Lasta region — a delegation from the Ethiopian Orthodox Church has worked to jointly establish a theological education and research center with Sankt Ignatios. In Mekelle, Sankt Ignatios has begun a partnership with St. Frumentius Theological College, where many students participate in our Religious Educator Program. 

In December 2025, a partnership was entered into with the Kyiv Orthodox Theological Academy in Ukraine, preceded by an agreement with the Volyn Orthodox Theological Academy and the Kyiv Theological Academy. These collaborations strengthen the department's network among Byzantine churches in Europe and are concrete steps towards the goal of positioning the department within a broader European context for Byzantine and Eastern Christian studies.
